Anthony Gentles

My name is Anthony Gentles, and I’m a videographer and animator based in Boston, Massachusetts. I graduated with a BFA in Digital Art (Animation) from Northeastern University, and I’m currently the VP and Director of Editing + Animation at Beatt Productions in South Boston.

Throughout my years in middle school and high school, I loved to sketch cartoon characters in all of my notebooks and folders. I had always imagined that I would become a comic book illustrator or a graphic designer of some sort. However, the summer after graduating from Lowell High School, a few friends and I put together a parody dance video that went viral within our hometown. This experience introduced me to the world of video editing.

While at my Freshman Orientation, I saw a pitch to join the Animation department and was immediately hooked. I switched my major from Graphic Design to Digital Art in order to focus more on Animation and Video. During my sophomore year, one of my roommates invited a friend (Randy) from his hometown who brought along a DSLR Canon camera with him. We spent that entire weekend filming a music video and a mockumentary "College Night Life" TV Show, having more fun those nights than any other night we spent out partying. When Randy left to go back to Connecticut, I vowed to save up enough money to purchase my very own DSLR camera, and I did just that.

With that camera, I began to film anything and everything that I could; short films, music videos, comedy sketches, online video contests, wedding videos, interviews, corporate events, birthday parties, sporting events, etc. I aimed to gain as much experience behind the camera while editing as much video content as I could. This work ethic landed me an internship at New England Conservatory, where I filmed their concerts and produced numerous videos, including a few TV commercials. Upon graduating from Northeastern in 2014, I landed a job at an advertising agency in Harvard Square called PJA Advertising + Marketing, where I worked for three and a half years as a Video Editor/Animator. I was able to work alongside very talented designers, art directors, and writers while at PJA, collaborating on several award-winning advertising campaigns.

This journey has led me to build wonderful relationships and connections with other like-minded video professionals in the New England area. My experiences have allowed me the ability to produce high-end videos and animation projects under my own freelance business, Yothann Productions. I currently specialize in music videos, wedding videography, and explainer animations videos, but I still dabble with character animation, short films, event videography, and portrait photography from time to time.
